Just as I was starting to question whether or not I ever could get a rod to suit all my requirements, I came across the Penn Powerstix Pro Bass rod and Penn Reels. Here's exactly why I favour it so significantly.
Q: I am looking for an ultralight reel to pair up with a 4'6'" medium-action St. Croix rod. Does Penn make an ultralight reel (2 to 4 LBS test)? Are Penn reels still American made and what do people think of them? Any suggestions on another reel to

I am looking at getting a Penn 113HSP or Penn 113H for bottom fishing off of NC coast. Are these pretty good reels for grouper? I am mainly concerned with getting them off the bottom quick without wearing myself down. Also, what do you think about Suffix line?
both are great choices the reel speed with the Penn 113hsp is top notch and the suffix line (go with hi vis yellow) has very good strength and low stretch. what rod do you plan on using with this setup and what # line are you gonna choose?
...1. Fishing Hooks
Today's anglers have Mathias Topp to thank for the proliferation of fish hooks on the market. In 1877 Top was working for Hans Mustad and the O. Mustad and Son A.S. Company. At the time, Mustad was known as an expert hook maker and his products were in great demand. Normally high demand is a good thing, but in Mustad's case it was problematic. He was making the fish hooks by hand. Mathias Topp came up with a solution to Mustad's dilemma by creating the first automatic fish hook making machine. After that, fish hooks were able to fly out of Mustad's factory and into the hands of fishermen everywhere. Oddly enough, Topp's fish hook making machine was never patented.
