Pilgrims and pioneers...Creamers tell a tale of Winston
22.05.12
Doris and Jack Creamer live quietly on the outskirts of Winston. Both of them, if prodded, can retrieve memories that hark back to the days of covered wagons and the pioneers. Doris can trace the towns homesteaders and city leaders from both sides of her family. Her ancestors on the Kuhns side donated land for the original town and the "Kuhns Addition" is still platted on Winston city maps.
Doris great-grandparents were John and Maria (Kuhns) Heldenbrandt original spelling added the "t". The family moved from Nebraska to homestead in Winston in the mid-1800s. John couldnt read or write and signed a sheepskin deed with an X.
