What set of Fischer skis are right for me?

Q: I want to buy a nice pair of Fischer skis and I can spend about $800, and I need the length to be about 165. I'm quite an advanced skier but I do not race. I'm 15, so would the junior racing skis be right for me or should I do the adult versions?

A: If you're going to invest in a good pair of skis, wouldn't it be better to go for the adult versions? It's almost certain you're going to be growing quite a bit in the next few years and it's be sad to outgrow your skis too fast... Unless you buy nice

Fischer Skis Announces March Fischer Select Athlete of the Month

AUBURN, N.H. — Fischer Skis U.S. announced the Fischer Skis Select Athlete of the Month for March. This month’s featured athlete is 24-year-old Chelsea Holmes of Girdwood, Alaska. Chelsea is wrapping up an outstanding year during which she grew stronger and faster with every race. In March, Chelsea won two races at the Canadian National Championships: the Women’s 5K Freestyle and the 30K Freestyle mass start events. JUNEAU , Alaska — Even though it takes up to three hours to groom the trails at the Mendenhall Lake Campground, it only takes a matter of minutes to reduce that fine corduroy to powdery pits and the predictable tracks to a pothole-ridden mess.

"It takes about four skiers and eight dogs," Scott Fischer said.

He smiled as he slipped on his gloves and fastened the strap on his ski pole. One day a week Fischer helps groom these trails. He is one of eight volunteers with the Juneau Nordic Ski Club, a local nonprofit aimed at supporting the Nordic skiing community in Juneau , that sets tracks for both classic and skate cross country skiing at the popular ski trails near Mendenhall Glacier. But he wasn't there to work that day; he was there just to ski.
