What kind of wood is good for and outdoor ping pong table?

Q: I'm planning on building an outdoor ping pong table but, I don't have any idea what kind of wood to use. My main issue is with it warping. I have seen products with aluminum covering the wood but I'm not sure what the best option is.

A: I would use a wolmanized sheet of 3/4 inch plywood. But over time, i think even that would warp unless you cover it with a tarp when you're not using it. Good luck.

Travelling ping pong tables spring up across Sunderland

FORGET the cup of coffee, employees across Wearside can now enjoy a work break with a difference – playing ping pong.

The Travelling Ping Pong programme will make its way across Wearside giving people the opportunity to show off their skills or try the sport for the first time.

The free scheme, run by Sunderland City Council, will put tables and bats in workplaces, schools and youth clubs and will also offer the chance for some coaching.

Housing group Gentoo was the first to try out the programme with tables being installed for three weeks at its headquarters in Doxford Park.
