Q: When watching the vault in gymnastics, I see the women will back handspring into the spring board whereas the men will run up and jump on it. By doing a back handspring into the board does that enable the women to generate more power on their vaults?
A: they get on the vault different ways. running and jumping on it, hand spring, just depends on the difficulty of it. It adds more difficulty to that. I believe its cuz you have to use so much more strength to get yourself up and get alot of air. Plus,
I love how political history has affected them. I love how mass defection and coaching changes caused huge shifts in the type of gymnastics produced by them. I am inspired by their ability, unlike somewhere like Ukraine, to maintain a high standing (perhaps not as high as before) in the medals in the face of such economic and coach shortages crises. I am astounded by how much controversy has come out of just one national program…

...The Wellesley High gymnastics team is headed back to the state finals.
The Raiders were in first place going into the final rotation at the South-Central Sectional Gymnastics Championships on Saturday night at Hudson High School, just .85 points ahead of Algonquin, but couldn’t hold off the defending state champions as the Tomahawks scored nines on the floor exercise to take first overall by less than a point as the Raiders settled for second place.
Algonquin had a team score of 142.875 while Wellesley scored 141.9. But by finishing in the top four, the Raiders qualify for this weekend’s state championship meet along with the top four teams from the North Sectional.
