Once a year, the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences -- or DITS to us insiders -- is held at the company's world headquarters in Kent. About 50 employees from across the United States and Canada were halfway through a monthlong seminar meant to boost their knowledge of trees and tree care.
Despite the fact that these outdoorsy people were trapped in a classroom, they considered a ticket to the institute golden. Students must have a boss's recommendation, and attendance is considered a stepping stone to greater things in the company.
