Q: I have recently taken up archery again, and have some ten year old Easton ACC carbon arrows. Would these be safe to shoot? The kit has been stored in an attic in the UK. I know that the resin degrades over time and that carbon fibre splinters are really

A: Give each arrow a good flex and listen for cracking. If you hear cracking put the arrow down and make sure you mark it or better yet throw it out right away. It's dangerous business shooting damaged carbons.

More Than 525 Slated to Participate in Pennsylvania NASP State Championships ...
Students from 24 schools will compete

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game Commission officials today announced that more than 525 students from 24 schools throughout the state will compete in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) 2012 State Tournament, which will be held on Friday, March 9, at the Penn State Multi-Sport Facility in University Park, Centre County. Of the students registered, 234 are females and 293 are males.

In mid-2010, the Game Commission began coordinating Pennsylvania's NASP, which helps school districts in Pennsylvania meet physical education curriculum requirements of the state Department of Education, while at the same time introducing them to the world of competitive archery. Last year, about 350 students from nearly a dozen school districts participated in the state competition, which was volunteer-run at the time.
